日本でもdocomoブランドでXperia、Xperia arc展開しているSonyErcssonですが、Xperiaシリーズの新機種、Xperia mini、Xperia mini proを発表しました。それぞれ、日本国内では販売していないものの海外では一定の人気を誇っているXperia X10 mini、Xperia X10 mini proの後継機になります。

両機種ともわずかながら現行機種よりも大型化していますが、OSはarcと同じく2.3（GingerBread）を採用、CPUが1GHz Snapdragonにスペックアップ。モバイルBRAVIAエンジン搭載、5Mのカメラで720pのHD動画撮影にも対応します。横幅はあるものの、かつてdocomoから発売されていたpreminiと似たようなサイズ、というと大きさが想像できる人がいるかもしれませんね。現行機種はカメラはおまけ程度の性能でしたが、今回はそこそこ強化されたようです。
第3Qに発売予定ですが、残念ながら発売予定地域に日本は含まれていません。Xperia arcとかの大型機種よりも、こういった小さいサイズの方が日本では受けると思うんだけどなぁ。
